On a side note: we are not a planning company ( we have a sister company that does planning, however) we are a resource and inspiration media platform, also- KATIE BLAKELY DESIGNS was not mentioned by accident but she designed the invitations, and you will be seeing more of her work in our upcoming Newsletter.

Wed Utah is an inspiration and resource guide that highlights local vendors and trends happening right now in Utah. www.wedutah.com Today we have Lauren  with Wed Utah to tell us about a couple things to look for in 2018

Weddings are an ever-trending industry, but use them sparingly in your over all theme and you will be on trend but not overboard.

Modern Minimalism is our theme today. With a bright airy white foundation, we accent it with pops of marsala in our black and white canvas and soften it with a little blush.

Year after year, personalization is becoming more important for the brides and grooms- basically you are seeing their names on everything from cake toppers, welcome signs, photo booth back drops and more. Here we see it in a custom water color painting from Oh, Capri Studio with the couple’s names on it.

Gold has since become a wedding must- it’s the neutral metallic that offers a little opulence.

Geometric shapes are huge again this year, we are going from hexagon, to straight lines, to circles. This is that modern element we see in many of the contemporary wedding blogs. Sage and Thistle Events rents these great backdrops and accents, and they are a great resource for help in design.

Bitsy Bridal always has the latest designer gowns seen in Europe and New York. They accent the feminine details with perfect lines- offering that modern appeal brides look for.

We think of this wine and deep burgundy as a seasonal autumn color, but it is really going to be seen throughout the year, in florals, suits, and linens. True Gentleman can customize any suit- they have a showroom where you can pick out all your suit details. Native Flower Company is a revered top tier floral design company but with amazing pricing- they do all types of floral designs for weddings, and even florals for homes and businesses.

For cakes- we are taking tips from the UK and incorporating texture with the use of rice paper. We’ve an ethereal soft ruffled tier, and also over all texture with geometric outlines. Sweet Cravings by Marcia is a cake designer who is able to keep up on technique, cake flavors, and overall design.

Stationary is simple but statement making. We love the typography chosen by Katie Blakely Design. Stationary can range from simple to flourished- we’ve seen it all. Pick what feels right to you. It used to be people would match it to their wedding colors, but honestly, we’ve seen that simple has been the most widely used.

Wedding favors are also becoming an ever-growing cost in budgets. Couples want it to be not just a bag of candy, but something useful for their guests in the end. Here we’ve taken jars and filled them with macarons in matching wedding colors, The Blonde Who Bakes is behind these tasty treats and can match about any color you need. A simple thank you attached and all of a sudden, every guest is wanting this take home.
